Geachte mevrouw Andersom,

Rood, herschapen in wit.

Dear Contributor,

Thank you very much for your contribution to the Call for Placebos for Art by the Behring Institute. We received over 201 Placebos for Art, comprising a great variety of projects that look, sound, feel, or in some other way manifest as art but that are not actually art.

The Behring Institute will publish the preliminary results of the Call for Placebos for Art in early 2011. This will be an initial attempt to group, categorise and define the pieces, projects, paintings, pills and installations.

Based on the Placebos for Art that we have received thus far, we can generally state that a Placebo for Art is defined by the principle of nature vs. nurture and contains 23% natural materials, 18% nurture, 15% questions, 13% conceptual ideas (of which 6% are placebos), and a pastiche of colour arrangements, sounds, and unidentified 2D and 3D images.

We are currently working on a report about the collection of Placebos for Art. We would like to share this report with any interested parties in the field of Art & Health, in the hope that it will improve, influence and inspire their work and interests. As a contributor, you will receive a digital copy of this report, which will include your name and a description and illustration of your Placebo for Art.

Our current plan is for the second phase of the Call for Placebos for Art to continue under the name Art of Healing. Over the next few years we will use new research platforms and methods to further our research, and new developments and results will be posted on our website as soon as they emerge.

[knip] Nog wat bla bla bla [/knip]

Thank you very much for your time and patience taking the time to read this letter. We will keep you informed about our endeavours as we go forward.

Kind regards,

J. Andersom
P&R Manager

Dear contributor,

The Behring Institute is publishing the preliminary results of the Call for Placebos for Art today. This is an initial attempt to group, categorise and define the pieces, projects, paintings, pills and installations that look, sound, feel, or in some other way manifest as art but that are not actually art. Please find the report attached.

We are working on the second phase of the Call for Placebos for Art under the name Art of Healing. For this we are collaborating with Data Control Group EGBG and the Foundation Art and Public Space (SKOR), both from the Netherlands. We will organise an exhibition with at least one other institute in which the Placebos for Art will be displayed alongside complementary pieces of non-placebo art. If your placebo is selected for this exhibition we will contact you as soon as possible.
